Our Used Laptop Grading System

When you buy a used laptop in Pakistan, the single most important question is: what condition is it really in? Every used laptop sold by The Affinity Zone goes through a 50+ point inspection in our Multan facility, then gets assigned one of four transparent grades β€” New, Slightly Used, Used Grade A, Used Grade B, or Used Grade C. Here's exactly what each one means.

Our 50+ checkpoint inspection

Before a laptop is photographed or listed for sale, our technicians at Bosan Road run it through a structured test pass that covers:

  • CPU and RAM stress test β€” sustained 100% load for 15 minutes, monitored for thermal throttling and stability.
  • Storage health β€” full SMART scan plus a read/write benchmark on every SSD and HDD.
  • Battery cycle and capacity check β€” we read the battery's actual current capacity against design capacity. If health is below 50%, we replace the battery before listing.
  • Display inspection β€” pixel-by-pixel check for dead pixels, backlight bleed, uniformity, and brightness output. Touchscreens get a multi-point response test.
  • Keyboard and trackpad β€” every key tested, trackpad gestures verified, backlight (if equipped) confirmed.
  • All ports β€” every USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, audio jack, SD card slot, and Thunderbolt port verified with real peripherals.
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, camera, microphone, speakers β€” each one tested end-to-end.
  • Hinges and chassis β€” manually inspected for play, cracks, or unusual flex.
  • Fresh OS install β€” Windows 11 Pro or the latest supported macOS reinstalled from official media. No bloatware, no leftover accounts, no surprises.

Anything that fails moves to repair or recycling. We don't list it.

The grading system

New

Factory-sealed, or unsealed but unused. Full original packaging, original accessories, manufacturer warranty intact where applicable. Cosmetically and functionally indistinguishable from a store-bought new laptop.

Slightly Used

Light use β€” typically corporate display units, short-term leases, or returns from end-users within 30 days of purchase. No visible cosmetic wear under normal indoor lighting. Battery health 85%+. Original accessories included where available.

Best for: buyers who want a near-new laptop without paying near-new prices. Popular among university students and professionals across Multan, Lahore, and Karachi who want a premium machine on a reasonable budget.

Used β€” Grade A

Minor cosmetic wear β€” possibly tiny scuffs on the lid or palm rest visible up close, but nothing that draws attention from across a desk. Fully functional. Battery health 75%+. Comes with a compatible charger; original box and accessories not guaranteed.

Best for: buyers who care about how the laptop performs more than how it looks brand new. Most ThinkPad and EliteBook stock from corporate returns lands in Grade A.

Used β€” Grade B

Visible cosmetic wear β€” noticeable scuffs, scratches, or palm-rest shine from regular office use. Fully functional. Battery health 65%+. Charger included.

Best for: shoppers prioritising spec and value over aesthetics. A Grade B Latitude with Core i7, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD can outperform a brand-new entry-level laptop for half the price.

Used β€” Grade C

Significant cosmetic wear β€” clearly used, possibly dents on the lid, heavy palm-rest wear, scratches across the chassis. Fully functional, no broken hardware. Battery health 55%+. Charger included.

Best for: students, second-machine buyers, or anyone in Pakistan who needs working hardware at the lowest possible price. Great for entry-level coding, online classes, or a backup work machine.

What The Affinity Zone will never do

  • Paint over key wear or chassis damage.
  • Run battery-calibration tricks to fake health readings.
  • Install a temporary OS that crashes after the return window.
  • List a laptop with hidden hardware faults β€” every defect gets disclosed in the product description.
  • Re-grade a laptop "Slightly Used" if it deserves "Used Grade A".

6-month service guarantee

Every used laptop ships with a 6-month service guarantee. If a hardware fault develops within that window β€” and it's not caused by physical damage, liquid, or unauthorised repair β€” we'll repair or replace the unit at no cost. Software issues, OS reinstalls, and configuration help are free for the first 30 days regardless of the fault.

7-day return promise

If a laptop arrives in a condition that doesn't match its listing β€” wrong specs, undisclosed damage, hardware fault on arrival β€” return it within 7 days for a full refund. We cover the return shipping. For change-of-mind returns (the laptop works as described but isn't right for you), the buyer covers return shipping but we still refund the full price.
